I have tasted the 1979 Petrus on several occasions and this was easily the best bottle. Dark ruby in color and showing almost no age, the aromatics at this point in the wine?s development are sensational both in complexity and intensity. Medium-to full-bodied, the wine is virtually seamless with layers of sweet ripe fruit and enough structure to carry the wine for another 20+ years.
A rather hard wine, with a firm backbone of silky tannins and sweet black olive, vanilla and berry aromas and flavors.--P?trus vertical. Best from 1992 through 1995. ?JS
