Dear Wine Lover,
This is our latest discovery, a wine that has highly impressed us during the latest trip to Tuscany of our purchasing team. Giodo Rosso 2015
The winery is Podere Giodo, owned by Carlo Ferrini who is one of Tuscanys great winemakers. But you probably have never heard of his tiny Montalcino estate, Podere Giodo. Carlo Ferrini is in his 60s, a legendary man who was responsible for the success of several wines including Siepi, Fonterutoli, Cassanova di Neri, Petrolo, Poliziano, Brancaia, Telenti, Barone Ricasoli and many others. He keeps his little own propriety very discreet and under the radar, as of course he does not want to upset his long term clients with his personal project. He started Podere Giodo about a decade ago, totaling about 1000 cs.
Carlo was awarded several times by il Gambero Rosso and Wine Enthusiast as best oenologist in the world in the years 2000 and 2008 . After more than 35 years of work, this is my dream, Ferrini says. I thought it was one of the most beautiful places in Montalcino.
This is a real value for money Sangiovese, but be quick, as we only have a very limited quantity
.first comes first served!
75.0 cl Giodo Rosso - Podere Giodo - 2015 CHF 38.00 (CHF 41.05 Vat incl.)
For 36 bottles or more CHF 35.00 (CHF 37.80 Vat Incl.)
James Suckling 97 points: This is a linear and dense red with blackberry, black cherry and floral aromas and flavors. Full body, tight and powerful. This is so focused and long. I love the fresh acidity and solid, fruit-coated tannins. A new wine from Carlo Ferrini's tiny Brunello estate. Will drink better in 2020.
